Thanks for stopping by!
A little about me...before becoming a trained chef, I worked many years in the corporate wellness world. I was able to understand how incredibly challenging it can be to take care of ourselves. When we are immersed in the daily rat race of work, home, kids, etc...it can be difficult to make things like healthy dinner a priority. When working in corporate wellness, I felt a void in culinary advocacy. Having a fitness regimen is imperative but you need to make smart food decisions to go alongside that. That void pushed me to go to culinary school where I graduated Top Toque in both, my Culinary Management
and Culinary Arts programs. Upon completing culinary school, I promptly enrolled myself into an Integrative Nutrition program where I received my Wellness Coaching licensure. Not only can I teach you how to cook but I can also tell you how to make smart food choices while doing it.
There is a huge need for healthy cooking to be implemented in our lives. Major health epidemics like
childhood obesity exist for a very specific reason; nutrition starts before a baby is even born. Being able to recognize and adapt a well rounded diet (without eliminating all the guilty pleasures) is actually quite
achievable. There is no such thing as one diet fits all, it is assessed on an individual basis.
I spend most of my days developing recipes, teaching hands-on cooking classes, coaching clients and giving culinary wellness lectures. Something I encourage my students to do is to take twenty minutes every Sunday to organize yours and your family's food goals for the upcoming week. It eliminates the question of "what should I make for dinner tonight?" Implementing this weekly organizational task will also help you create a practical and budget-friendly shopping list for the week.
Something to "chew" on: once you establish a dietary regimen that works for you, convert it into your lifestyle, not just a temporary diet. And, if you have a craving, give into it every so often. Try not to be too hard on yourself; set yourself up for success!
